How to Write an Optimized Instagram Bio
The Instagram Bio, although considered a minor element, is one of the first things users notice when they land on our profile.
For what reason?
Because the biography is as if it were our business card with which we introduce ourselves to others. And you know, the first impression counts, especially in the world of social media where you go from one type of content to another in the blink of an eye!
This is why knowing how to structure an ad hoc biography is fundamental in your marketing strategy.
So let's see how to do it!
How to divide the Bio
We start from the assumption that in this case, synthesis is essential.
In fact, Instagram gives us the possibility to summarize our introduction in just 150 characters. Which makes sense, since the average attention span of the viewer is increasingly shorter: around 3 seconds.
In these three seconds our goal is to communicate:
- Who we are
- OurUnique Value Proposition, the Unique Value Proposition, i.e. a clear and concise message that represents and differentiates your company from the competition.
- A Call to Action, with which we invite the user to carry out an action (visit the website, listen to the podcast, read the blog, etc.)
And it is precisely in these points that we must enclose the Instagram Bio.
So, whether you want to sell a product or service, or whether you want to position your brand, knowing how to write an optimal description is a fundamentally important step.
Therefore, here are some small but powerful tips that you can adopt if you are a beginner:
1) Focus on the name
The name is the first text that appears in bold in the biography.
To be optimized, you must insert at least one Keyword inside it.
For example, if you work in fitness and nutrition, make sure one of these two words makes up your name.
By doing this, people who search for this niche sector will have a better chance of finding you.
Always remember that you only have 30 characters available, so summary always prevails.
2) Write a short description
Immediately after the name we findthe description.
And this is where we need to insert information relating to our business, trying to capture the visitor's attention.
Let's see the example of GILBI.CO:

The first line briefly describes our company, who we are and what we offer.
The second line expresses the Unique Selling Proposition “Let's put Italy online”, therefore the value that our profile can give to people.
Last, but not least, the Call to action, which refers the user to visit our website.
3) Insert a consistent link
Once we have written a well-structured description, we will certainly need a link consistent with the above-mentioned Call to Action.
Therefore, it is good to include it.
You can add a link back to your website or blog for example.
4) Add a way to contact you
Don't forget to enter a telephone numberor an e-mail address to be contacted.
Furthermore, it is useful to also addthe locationwhere your shop or business is located.
This is because, for example, if you own a restaurant or a bar, customers must be able to easily find the place where you are located.
5) Hashtags, Tags, Emojis and Special Characters
Last but not least, the extra elements.
Using Hashtag or Tag is very useful, but not essential. You can use them to increase the visibility of your Instagram profile, or to recall another account you want to advertise.
Emojis are also a great tool if you want to make your Bio more fun and less formal from a visual point of view. However, remember to insert them in moderation and in the right places. For example, I like to place them at the beginning of each sentence.
Finally, the special characters. Unlike Emoji, special characters are something I don't recommend using. This is because not all devices are programmed to view them, so not all users would have the opportunity to see what is written in your Bio.
These were some simple but fundamental tips for writing a super efficient and captivating Instagram Bio.
Of course there is no universal rule, so give vent to your creativity and create the right Bio for your business.
